IAIA Annual Conference and Indigenous Peoples' Section
Te Kahui Kaitiaki is also part of the Indigenous Peoples' Section of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), of which Rev. Maurice Gray (Kai Tahu, Ngati Porou, Rangitane, Ngati Kahungunu) is the Co-Chair. At the 1998 Annual Conference, held in Christchurch, a Pounamu was gifted to the IAIA as a mauri for the organisation, and it is received by the host country of each Annual Conference from year to year. The IAIA Annual Conference is an excellent opportunity for Maori to meet regularly with other indigenous peoples across the globe, to discuss and debate key issues related to indigenous people and impact assessment. |
