Although NZAIA is primarily an interest group, we do undertake a variety of activities to further the cause of impact assessment, in New Zealand but also the wider Pacific region.    Annual conferences are currently our main activity, supplemented by periodic electronic newsletters, but we also make submissions on proposed legislation, or on proposed policies and plans, where we feel our input would be relevant and useful.
We have also been active in working with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, based in Samoa, to provide voluntary assistance with their capacity building programme, developing regional capacity in EIA, SEA and IEA.
