New Zealand Association for Impact Assessment (NZAIA) is offering up to three scholarships to support postgraduate student attendance at the NZAIA 2024 conference.
Apart from participating in the conference and meeting impact assessment practitioners from a variety of backgrounds, successful applicants will also support NZAIA core group members running the conference. Encouraging emerging practitioners to engage with the Association itself is an important part of the scholarship programme.
After the conference, we ask scholarship students to prepare a short commentary for the NZAIA online newsletter and website, and there may also be an opportunity to co-edit a conference-based issue of our online periodical Impact Connector.
Applicants for the scholarships should be attending a New Zealand tertiary education institution and have a real interest (e.g. through a current or recent course in IA; or current or recent IA research, etc.) in some form of impact assessment (IA) (e.g. ecological, social, cultural, health, cumulative, strategic, etc.).
The successful applicants will receive a full registration at the conference, including the conference dinner.
NZAIA will reimburse reasonable travel and accommodation expenses for out-of-town students - up to $600 on production of receipts.
Each recipient also receives a one-year membership of NZAIA for the following calendar year.
Scholarship recipients in previous years have found the conference really valuable:
Send an application, by Friday 23rd August, to [email protected], containing:
a short CV (max. 2 pages);
evidence of current status as a postgraduate student at a New Zealand tertiary education institution (please give contact details of a referee who can vouch for your status); and
a short letter that outlines your interest in impact assessment (courses, research, etc.), any career aspirations you may have in the field of impact assessment, and how attending the conference will be of benefit to you. Please also indicate if you are receiving any other financial support to attend the conference.
