Submissions on Government Proposals
we invite your input

NZAIA makes submissions on government proposals where there is an opportunity for us to advocate for the use and best practice of impact assessment. Our role is to promote the use of impact assessment, to maintain good practice, and to comment on potential environmental, social, cultural and health impacts and their management that might be associated with proposals of various kinds (from legislation through to policies and plans).

NZAIA submissions are a collaborative group activity. We like to include the knowledge and opinions of as many of our members as possible. When NZAIA is doing a submission, members will be informed via our monthly newsletter and invited to contribute.

To be kept informed of our submissions on government proposals, sign up to be an NZAIA member.

How do I contribute to a submission?

When we have an active submission process, we will set up a facility in Google Docs that will allow anyone interested to record their comments and suggestions for a submission. The Google doc will be molded into a draft submission, which is circulated to the membership before final approval by NZAIA's Core Group.

What is a google doc?
A google doc is a word document hosted and stored online in the cloud. It has basic word processing features that you can use as if it was a normal word document.

Who can access it?
Access can be set at different levels. Our submissions are able to be accessed by anyone with the specific web link.

What happens to my changes and how do I save?
Your changes are automatically saved as you make them. There is no need to save the document, just exit.

What happens if someone else is working on the file at the same time?
Both sets of changes will be saved and you will be able to see who is making the other changes (if they are signed into a google account) by scrolling over the changes.
It can be hard to keep up with current consultation processes, so we are posting links here to useful websites.  If you see something open for consultation that you feel NZAIA ought to be involved with, email admin@nzaia.org.nz and let us know!
